Brian Gay Proto putter on the bay?

Very interesting putter if the story is true.  No real reason to doubt it either.

I was just going to post this.  I have no doubt it was made for Brian Gay.  I know of no other Bettinardi BB8 that was made with a notch in the topline other than those made for Brian.

That said, the seller sounds like a complete tool.  I didn't know that Cameron had the market cornered on the flymilled face.  Plus, I don't trust someone who is trying to sell a $2,000 putter and can't be bothered to capitalize words in his listing (I'm not kidding either).

I wonder how this person got his hands on the putter to begin with.

What was that Rod Stewart song? "Every putter, er picture, tells a story."

That being said, my definition of a "complete tool" is someone who would part with $2K+ without rock solid documentation.
When it comes to putters, I suffer from an embarrassment of riches.

Even though its a proto it just looks too plain to shell out that kind of mega dough.

It's definitely a legit Brian Gay Betti.

I guess he figured that by mentioning Cameron he can spice up the price.  Very dishonest IMO.

Very unique putter if all is true but very high priced, this is America I guess.  I could buy 3 bad dass putters for that much loot.

Well, I do know last year the B.G. DASS BB8 w/mod fit face and smooth milling that matches Brian's putter went for $1250 on Nick's site.  Maybe the upcharge on this one is for that Mizuno Bettinardi grip.  Yeah, that's got to be it.

A COA would come handy on this one.

There was one of the Brian Gay Proto putters on the bay last year that didn't sell for a really high price.   Seller did a poor job with describing it.   That one looked exactly like this except it had the modified fit face on it.

Guys I am positive the one ebay was an early proto for Brian, which I believe has had some tournament play as well. He is very particular about his putter and this one didnt make the cut, as he later switched to the modified fit face.

This putter listed on the bay is in fact Brian Gay's orginal Bettinardi gamer.
There is no current documentation to state this information but we here at Bettinardi would love to be able to add this putter to our registry.
If my memory serves me correctly this putter was used in 3 PGA West coast events in the 2008 early season.
This is a very cool putter with some great Bettinardi history.

Keith,

Great info.

I think this price is pretty reasonable considering this is an actual tour used putter by one of the best putters out on tour.  Yes the description is awful, but 100% rating with over 100 transactions.

Great piece for any Bettinardi collection IMO.
