Club Bettinardi...Question for Jimmy and Nick
« on: February 06, 2010, 09:58:20 pm »
Guys,

Has Bettinardi ever thought of the possibility of having a Club Bettinardi a la Club Cameron?  Thought it might be a good idea with all the cool headcovers, ball markers, etc.  Obviously it would have a yearly charge.

Thoughts?

Sorry, I'm new to the Bettinardi thing...my guess that's it's been discussed before and not a good idea?  Is so, I retract the idea.  Was just wondering, not promoting.

I just don't want to see the Cameronization of Robert Bettinardi, that's all.

With all the research I have done lately on Robert and the company I wouldn't either.  And I guess Jimmy and Nick are good sources of those kind of thing (limited headcovers, ball markers, etc.).  I really like the availbility of Bettinardi items as well as the ability to get fit at the Studio.

Chances of you or me getting into Scotty's studio, zero.  Chances of getting fit and treated like a pro with Bettinardi, all it takes is a plance ticket (in my case) and $100.  That's just awesome!

I wouldnt say no....but the truth is, we basically already have a club bettinardi (our loyal collectors and supporters) so there isnt a reason to get them to PAY something to be able to buy what they already buy. However as the Bettinardi brand grows and continues to bring in more people (which it has over the last 3 years) I think it is inevitable to see some changes...some you may not all agree with, some you all may love.  I think that redoing Bettinardi.com was an important step as well as having the registry...these things were things that our collectors wanted and needed.  But to have everyone pay a membership fee just to be able to buy the items we already sell, well that seems like something that just isnt the Bettinardi way.

I think the main thing is that the Bettinardi brand keeps giving the great affordable prices on the unique sticks that they currently do. Obviously when its time to raise the prices on tour sticks they will but hopefully it doesnt reach and extreme amount.

I don't like the idea of having to pay to have the privilege of maybe owning limited edition items.  I like that with Bettinardi anyone can own a limited cover or special putter and not have to know someone or have an in .  Just my opinion.  Cameron putters and covers are nice but so are Bettinardi's, but I don't have to pay through the nose to own tour quality item from Bettinardi.  If I want a special item I can just ask Nick or Jimmy and they can keep and eye out for it and let me know if they find it or have it.  That is a pretty nice luxury to have.

I can see both sides of the argument to have a "formal" Club Bettinardi, but like Nick said, what we have here is basically the club. This is a place for anyone interested and enthusiastic about the Bettinardi brand to learn (or teach).  Also a place for us to discuss our collections, help other collectors out, see all the new goodies that BB is creating, and constantly email Nick/Jimmy ordering products.

I personally would not like to see a formal club, but as the brand gets bigger, other factors get involved.

I'm not realy into clubs, and I hope it doesn't come to pass.
I agree with Venno.  We have a good thing going now.  No reason to change it.

I have to apologize, I was drinking when I thought of this.  Now, after reading everyone's post as well as thinking about it myself it's a bad idea.  I digress...

I think drinking went into the decision to start and join Club Cameron also, as in drinking Kool Aid.

:), true, very true, can't wait 'till tomorrow when I can be a card carrying member of the Bettinardi club.  My Studio Stock #4 arrives tomorrow.  I'll have to find a Kool Aid drinker to buy my Cameron, which won't be an issue at the club I play at.  ::)

Dumb question but what is the significance of Kool aid and putters, I'm not trying to stir anything up just wanted to know.

I think that it's better that the headcovers are limited to 50 or 100 per run.  They are more often kept and collected instead of flipped for profit.  It's also nice that anyone with access to Jimmy and Nick's sites have as good a chance at a headcover as anyone else.  No favoritism.  No amazing coincidence that the same 1-2 people keep getting the 1/10 covers.

I once heard a great description of Corvette clubs, Harley clubs, and other clubs: they are for people that don't have enough ego for the toy they bought that was supposed to boost their ego.  ;)

Agreed!  Jimmy has gone the extra mile for me, and that means alot, he makes me feel like  I'm important as his customer.  I've haven't delt with Nick yet, but I wouldn't expect anything else from him either.

Man, I wish I could delete this thread I started.  I wasn't thinking very clear when I composed it. :o  All of the posts here, though, have made it crystal clear that a club isn't a good idea because we already have one, one that better than Club Cameron, for many reasons, the best being it's FREE.

I have yet to have the opportunity to work with Jimmy or Nick but I think with my recent purchase of my SS #4 my relationship with Bettinardi is going to be a long one.  I just need to collect some more funds so I can move to the next level.  That being going to Studio B and getting fit and getting a tour putter from Jimmy or Nick

Yep, bought from both Jimmy and Nick.  2 of the greatest guys to buy from.  I would not hesitate to and most definitely will buy from again.  I like how they release everything so that it's fair for anyone to acquire.  I don't think a club should be necessary to have a chance to buy something.

Hello Everybody,
This has been a great thread for me to read through.
There as been some talk over here at the Bettinardi camp about the possibilities and/or need for a Bettinardi Community.
As we have been growing in the numbers of customers over the last few years it is becoming more and more of a relevant topic.
Here's my take on the subject.
We here at Bettinardi are truely lucky too have the 2 best distributors in the business. Nick & Jimmy have done a great job promoting and educating our customers about our product, and even more importantly, with the philosophy of how and why Bettinardi does the things that we do.
Also, we here at Bettinardi love the idea of being a part of PT's forum. It is a place that anybody can readily find out anwsers to most any question they might have. The most important aspect to that is that those anwsers are usually unbasis and most often correct.
Last, we have launched our new website (www.bettinardi.com) with an added "Collectors" tab that now gives the ability to anyone to view a lot of the putters, headcovers & buckles that we have created over the years. This database is growing on a weekly basis and we hope that in a month or two's time we will have a large percent of all the product we have created.  At any time anybody will be able to view the entire registry to see all of our product. No smoke and mirrors tricks to hide the total numbers of putters or anything else.
So at this current time, in my opinion, there is not a need to create a "club" for Bettinardi because we have all of the "bases" covered.  I will also add that if/when a Bettinardi site would be created it would not be setup in the same form or fashion in which some of you have had experience. Its just not our style.
Again, Thanks for all the great comments and please keep them coming.

There are some similarities as far as the cost of common items such as T-shirts, ball mark removers, and headcovers when they come out.
