Were any DASS BB24's ever made?
« on: January 03, 2009, 02:21:16 am »
I'm wondering if any DASS BB24's were ever made.  I've always liked the look but don't recall ever seeing any in DASS--just Black Thunder and Nickel Satin finished carbon steel

If the answer is yes, my guess is that Hogan Fan has one (or more!)

I've never seen a DASS BB24, but I wouldn't be surprised if 1 or 2 were made.  The 2008 Ryder Cup model is probably the closest I've seen to it.  You might ask Nick or Jimmy to hunt through Bob Bettinardi's private collection, and then beg him on your behalf if they find one.

The BB24 is a beautiful model, but I haven't focused much attention on it, because I rely on a flange site line (parallel to the target line) when putting.  Some BB24 putters have a flange site parallel to the face, or a site line on the topline.

Good luck in your search.

I LOVE the bb24 head! Probably my favorite putter to look down at.

I'd also be interested in a DASS model. It's a shame not many people use the BB24 head shape, everyones so obsessed with Anser heads it's ridiculous.

I wouldn't say I'm looking to buy--really just a curiosity.  I've always stayed away from the BB24 and BC2 because of the lack of a cavity brings the MOI down quite a bit.

For some reason I think this body style looks much better with a flow neck than a plumber's neck.  I don't know why, because usally I like plumber's necks better.

i don't really think MOI has any merit when considering a putters design. The club's not really moving at any kind of speed whatsoever. you're not missing it an inch out on the toe or heel. i just don't understand how MOI can matter with putters unless you have the worst putting stroke in the world... i'm going to do a search on this, not sure if this has been covered on here before... may need to start a new thread!

I think you're right about MOI.  I think it's one of the most overrated aspect of a putter.  When I use impact tape on my putter my variation on 20 footers is about the size of dime--maybe a little smaller.  You can't convince me missing the sweetspot by 1/4 of an inch is going to kill my putting.  Whether the face is square at impact is a ton more important to getting the ball in the hole.
