Not a fan of the Winn grips myself. I have only tried a few of them (forgotten the names) but the ones I tried seemed soft and sticky. I'm sure some would like this. Also, it seemed like they would wear quickly.
I like the feel of stitchbacks, I'm sure others like the sticky feeling though.

Jay,
My honest opinion...
You have the best grip in golf right now and everyone has winn style grips... Do the math : P
What I'd like to see is leather style grip in the David's golf pride shape. Then some custom orders can be done colorwise.
Maybe a team up with gripmaster?

I'm with you on that one Jim.
I've found Winn grips to be too squidgy and sticky.

I am getting feedback from the younger generation of golfers that like the feel of a Winn or a AVR from Golf Pride.
This is very much in the exploratory phase and should have some samples soon.
We are working on a new leather grip, something very similar to the old Neumann Calfskin grips. Those were great grips. They had a cork underlisting, can't find cork anymore!!!
I think David's new grip is one of the better in golf, but we have to keep looking for the next best thing.
thanks
Jay

I like the length and shape of the current grips... top notch. I've never replaced a grip on one of my Mills for that reason.
As for the Winn... I think it's more the middle age golfer that likes the soft feel... at least I've seen more of them with that type of grip than the younger guys.

If anything the "younger" generation may like winn grips because most are flashy or what they see on OEM putters.
I'm sorry but I don't associate winn grips with the quality of a Mills putter. I associate them with Guerin rifes, Rossas, odysseys and other over manufactured OEM putters.
We can find something for that flashy look to gain attention, but still retain the quality the Mills brand deserves.
Thinking out loud...

The one thing I do like about Winn grips is that because of the ability to have multi colours you can differentiate the brand. i.e. Yes' yelow, white and black grip.

I think with Winn Grips it is hit or miss...the textured ones done for Bettinardi are ok in feel (like those in the Mizuno line) as they are not smooth but are "dimpled," but the aftermarket Winns never feel right to me. I think Winns in general are cheap feeling.
I agree with Jim that they just are not quite right for a Mills putter. That said, no matter how much I have tried, I can not get behind Gripmaster either...I have tried three and they just don't feel right to me...
I think the material of the current Mills (David's design) is the best feeling grip material out there, like a Cameron cord-no-cord in texture. Just offer that in several shapes with the Mills logos and embossing and I think you are set...maybe the current paddle, a small pistol (like a Cameron Studio Design or Blackout Pingman) and maybe a mid-size pistol, like a regular Iomic (my all time favorite shape).

The current grips are very nice. I would love to see a GripMaster leather grip as an option!
I am not a fan of Winn grips.

I am working with Golf Pride on doing some colors. It is difficult to do with minimum grip orders being very high. I have asked a lot of the better juniors at clubs in my area about the "colorful" grips. I guess that is how I should have characterized instead of "Winn grips". They like colorful grips and I think we could use some color from time to time!!! I know the paintfill can be changed on the current Golf Pride designed by David, so that might be something we look at in the near future. jay ps Paul and Jim you fellas play nice!!!

I'm just going to throw out a vote for my favorite "lesser known" grip... Karakal. They have a few different variations from the X-TACK which is similar in feel to the Winn grips... to the X-COOL which has the same surface pattern as a basketball. Not to mention they are really great guys to deal with, and are really looking to break into the market with very good pricing. I think you could only do well by working with them... http://www.karakalgolfgrips.com/

David's Golf Pride grip is the best grip I have ever used. I ordered more from David and he was completely out. Getting the same grip in leather would be pretty cool.

Thanks Jay. Can I order them on your website? The grips I saw on there looked like the old grips. David got a shipment of them this week so I am hoping I will see mine soon. Glad to hear you carry them too. David is a busy man!

one of the reasons for going with one of the "squidgy" grip companies (as Paul put it) is that they can do colorful grips very easily and their grips will not get hard and slick as quickly as a rubber grip.
When pigment is added to the compound of a grip like a lamkin or golf pride, less carbon is added and the grip will lose its tackiness and softness quicker.
I have spoken to Golf Pride extensively about getting some color in to the new grip of David's. However, with the price doubling and the life expectancy cut in half, it will be a hard pill to swallow.
your thoughts . . .

What I'd really like to see is a non-stitchback grip-master. I like the leather, like the firmness, hate the stitches. They're just too distracting for me to concentrate over.

I like the conservative look of all the Mills grips. The new Golf Pride is one the best feeling grips out there today! You loose alot of appeal with flashy colored grips.

The Hard Edge fits this particular bill nicely, and it's less expensive than the Stitchback What I'd really like to see is a non-stitchback grip-master. I like the leather, like the firmness, hate the stitches. They're just too distracting for me to concentrate over.

Jay, This is an interesting thread. I agree that the current grip is the best that I have tried, but I do like Winn grips. Winn grips were too soft IMO when they first came out, but they have a wide array of choices these days and they are light years ahead of rubber grips in technology. They can vary the firmness across the grip surface along with the tackiness. Having a colorful grip in the current shape would be awesome in my opinion (and I am 45 ) Change is really tough for my parents and grandparents though Andy

I'm a big fan of David's current grip.
Never liked the Winn grips myself, they're just not very durable.
The Karakal X-Cool is a nice grip. I had these put on a few putters and really like the feel and texture.

I'm new to this forum, but I do own a Mills Klassic which I love.
Does Golfpride make something with David's logo about the size of the Pingman? If not, that's something I would love to see. The GolfPride grip I got with my Klassic is just too big for me, I much prefer something thinner.
Thanks
